Propane BBQ Safety
Gas grilling is very safe as long as you keep safety in mind.
|
To that end, here are some propane bbq safety tips. Which should help cut the risk of fire or explosion when barbecuing with a propane gas grill.
Before firing up any propane or natural gas grill it's a good idea to give it a thorough once over. You want to make sure none of your grill hoses or lines are cracked or brittle. Also watch out for any kinks in the hosing. They can be a sign of trouble waiting to happen.
Clean out the supply lines that lead into the burners themselves.
|
Double check that there are no lines near hot surfaces or hot dripping grease.
Inspect your spark ignitor. Make sure it's working properly. That is it consistently generates the spark needed to create a flame and ignite the propane gas. Reason being if no flame is visible, the heavier-than-air propane gas may be escaping and could explode on you.
Never store your spare propane gas tank under or even anywhere near any barbecue grills in use. Nor should you keep your spare tank in the house.
You also don't want to store a filled tank in a hot car or car trunk. The heat can increase the pressure of the gas. That increase may open the relief valve and let gas to escape into and fill the trunk.
